There has been a huge amount of attention given to the indie production Boyhood over the past months. Lovingly filmed over a 12 year period, critics call Richard Linklater’s Boyhood “a groundbreaking story of growing up.”
Seen through the eyes of Mason, growing-up on screen before our eyes, the film captures the reality of the ups and down of childhood and adolescence. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason’s parents and Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, the film has won hearts and a huge pile of awards.
The IFC production combines visual moments of adolescence, the big and the small and sets them to a soundtrack of amazing music by Coldplay and Arcade Fire.
Boyhood screens in Bancroft on Feb. 10 as our monthly North of 7 Film Fest feature in partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Film Circuit program. Show times are 4:15 and 7pm at the Village Playhouse in Bancroft.
This feature film has already cleaned-up at the Golden Globes and it has six Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture. Catch this film on the big screen now and be ready for the Academy Awards on Feb. 22.
Tickets are $10 and are available at www.boxofficebancroft.com or at the door. The bar is open before both screenings and snacks will be served. This is an age of majority event and all proceeds are used to support the programs and services provided in our community by Hospice North Hastings.
