Land Ho brings laughs to North of 7 Film Fest

If you’ve been dreaming of a road trip do not miss “Land Ho,” on April 14th. This US/Iceland co-production is our April North of 7 Film Fest selection and it is sure to delight those with an adventurous spirit.

In this quirky comedy, two former brothers-in-law reconnect to conquer their feelings of disillusionment and tackle what’s left of life with a trip to Iceland. Mitch, a brassy Southerner with a gift for profanity convinces Colin, a reserved Australian, to get over loneliness, aging and to spark an inner fire by sharing in this epic journey.

From nightclub adventures in upscale Reykjavik to treks through the Icelandic hinterlands, the two senior travelers get on each others’ nerves, get lost on the moonless moors, make new friends, smoke pot, share regrets, and marvel at Iceland’s otherworldly beauty.
The haunting Icelandic landscapes are beautiful to watch on Bancroft’s big screen and the film is a reminder that we can enjoy laughter and adventure at any age.

To go with our comedic feature, this month’s trivia prize has been donated by the Carlow Recreation Board and it includes two tickets to a Polish-styled dinner and an evening of hilarious comedy with the Laugh Out Loud Comedians from the Ottawa comedy circuit. There will be a pair of tickets given out at each screening for the April 18th event at the Fort Stewart Hall.

The Village Playhouse bar will be open before each show so come to the Playhouse early for time to visit with other fans of independent film. While you’re enjoying the pre-show social time, try your luck at winning a meal for two from For the Halibut and support our Playhouse Repair Fund.

Land Ho screens on April 14 at 4:15 and 7pm at the Village Playhouse. This is an age of majority event. Movie tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to Hospice North Hastings.
