With the buzz of the Oscars still top of mind for film fans, March’s TIFF Tuesday offering at the Bancroft Village Playhouse delivers great drama and two Academy Award wins.
March’s TIFF Tuesday film is “Manchester by the Sea,” and it is sure to delight the audience. This rich, American drama tells the story of Lee Chandler, a quiet, moody loner. With the sudden death of his brother his life changes forever as he is faced with the hopelessness he feels about being named guardian to his 16-year-old nephew. “Manchester by the Sea” screens on March 14 at 4:15 and 7pm.
Heading into the final days of winter fan favourite Gordon Pinsent will be back on the big screen in the moving tribute to his life, “River of my Dreams.” For those who had the pleasure of meeting the Canadian legend two years ago at the theatre, he still holds a special place in our hearts and this new biopic will reinforce our connection to the Canadian icon. “River of my Dreams” plays on April 11 at 4:15 and 7pm.
May’s TIFF Tuesday feature is the international sensation, “Lion,” on May 9 and the poignant Canadian feature “Maudie,” will delight Canadian art fans as the story of Nova Scotia folk artist Maude Lewis is brought to the big screen on June 13.
