Prepare to be amazed and then prepare to have your mind blown by Spidey, nominee for Canadian Magician of the Year, Friday night at the Playhouse.
With a family friendly act that has brought him success at “Just for Laughs,” on television shows like Penn and Teller’s “Fool Us” and on “Canada’s Got Talent,” this is a show that will be talked about for weeks as audience members try to figure out tricks and illusions that happen right in front of their own eyes.
Spidey connects with audiences of all ages using mentalism, magic and hypnotism and if a Facebook contest goes well this week, Playhouse Manager, Heather Brough has agreed to get on stage to be hypnotized.
Brough admits that she hates being on stage but she’s decided to accept the on-line challenge and if the show’s promotional post on the Bancroft Village Playhouse Facebook page gets 100 likes and shares she has agreed to let Spidey work his magic.
The post is pinned to the top of the Playhouse Facebook page and is half way to the goal. More likes and shares are still needed to get Brough on to the stage so please consider clicking some support.
Spidey offers his family-friendly show at the Playhouse on Friday night, July 21 at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm.
For those looking for a musical adventure, long-time Bancroft favourites, Cracker Jack Palace will hit the Playhouse stage on Saturday night with Dan Munro and his talented friends. Munro always delivers a great night of music and storytelling as the audience is treated to a long list of hits from musical greats like Steely Dan, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Cracker Jack Palace formed over ten years ago when a couple of doctors who were also musicians decided to put a band together to raise some funds for Aids Charities doing work in Africa. All these years later and they’re still playing although the band now only has one doctor – and luckily for the band members who give their everything in each show – he still carries his medical bag along just in case.
Cracker Jack Palace has had many sold out shows at the Playhouse over the years so fans are encouraged to grab tickets in advance for the Saturday, July 22 show.
Tickets for Spidey and Cracker Jack Palace are available at Harvest Moon, Posie’s, The Playhouse Box Office, Hospice House and online at bancroftvillageplayhouse.ca. Both shows are part of the theatre’s “Caring through Culture,” program that raises money to restore the theatre while providing a revenue stream for Hospice North Hastings.
