This hilarious, foot-stomping, irreverent retelling of the history of Hastings County hits the stage at the Village Playhouse from Aug. 7 to 11 but because the show is all about local history, the cast were thrilled to accept an invitation to offer a sneak peek to local history fans and museum patrons. So, on Aug. 4, there will be a free preview of the music and stories that make-up this triple-threat production, under the big tent, outside the Museum.

Written by the Tweed & Company Ensemble with the assistance of the Hastings County Historical Society, the show features music from several up-and-coming and established Canadian composers, coming to us from the Stratford Festival, The Second City, and with major Toronto credits, and some of the Ensemble are even from right here in Hastings County. The show features a cast of nine incredible performers, all of whom also play the instruments and create a stunning live band on stage, who will play in the midst of a rustic set with unique staging.

Mary Kavanagh is the Chair of the Bancroft North Hastings Heritage Museum and she says the board is delighted to have the cast of HASTINGS! The Musical perform under the big tent at the Museum.

“All are invited to come down and enjoy Hastings County history being played out,” Kavanagh says.

“We are passionate about local history and thrilled to be bringing it to life this August at the Playhouse and are ecstatic to have the opportunity to tease a bit of the show in partnership with such a fantastic local resource,” Porter says. “Come and get a taste of HASTINGS! The Musical, and then visit the museum to learn more about the history we’re singing about. It’s a perfect pairing.”

The free preview is suitable for all ages and audience members are invited to pack a lunch and enjoy some time visiting with the cast after their concert. Tickets for HASTINGS! The Musical are available at Posie’s, Harvest Moon, Hospice House, Vintage on Hastings and online at
