Heather Johns has been helping people grow and manage their personal finances for over 18 years and now, she’s creating something new for the clients she has worked with across the Bancroft region through a new partnership with GP Wealth Management.
With changes in the financial sector, and in the world of wealth management, Johns believes that the ability to leverage technology and personal connections are the way of the future. Through GP Wealth Management, Johns will do both.
“There is sometimes the perception that working with a bigger company is better, but I believe that working with a like-minded team, with strong client relationships is more important to the people I work with,” Johns explains. “This is about money and that needs to feel personal.”
So, with this commitment to keeping things personal, the newest branch office of GP Wealth Management at 119 Hastings St N. in Bancroft is now open and Johns looks forward to sharing all the new company details with existing and new clients.
GP Wealth Management is a family-owned financial services firm that has been in business for over 20 years, specializing in wealth management, insurance and banking. They offer third-party financial products and emphasize independent thinking when tailoring advice to client needs. The company is Canadian owned, and they put an emphasis on providing a team approach to client management.
Johns says they are also active in the investment community through their membership to the Mutual Fund Dealers Association, The Investment Funds Institute of Canada and the Federation of Mutual Fund Dealers of Canada.
“GP Wealth Management Corporation is a forward-thinking organization that met my criteria of providing excellent service to my clients,” she explains.
All of these things matter to Johns and she says they should also matter to local financial services clients.
“After developing a relationship with this company for the past year and a half, I know that this is a team that I want to be a part of,” John explains. “And this will be more of a team – it’s a smaller company and there will be more personal contact. It just feels like a better fit for who we are and for what we need, locally.”
Understanding the perfect fit is a huge part of what Johns does for her clients and she takes the trust that people place in her to heart.
“I do this for the people that I get to work with,” she explains. “It really means something to sit at someone’s kitchen table, to hear them share their hopes and dreams and then to be able to actually help people. Money can be a really big stress for people and by working with me, they don’t have to face it alone. Less stress is good.”
“I’m a certified financial planner and I relate to my clients as a coach for anything to do with money,” Johns adds. “Sometimes, it’s about helping people get more from the money they already have. Unlike some Financial Advisors, I don’t have a minimum account size.”
With the transition in full swing, Johns is busy reaching out to clients to advise them of their options. She’s continuing her work with North Hastings Budget Services, a program run through North Hastings Community Integration Association. She also is incredibly proud to sit on the board of the North Hastings Community Trust and in her free time, Johns acts as the St. Paul’s United Church Music Director.
“This is an exciting move,” Johns notes. “I’m trusting in my client relationships and I can’t wait to welcome GP Wealth Management to our community.”
The sign is now up on her downtown office and Johns says she’s looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for all her clients.
